Henry Michaelis
Henry Michaelis is a 26-year-old self-taught photographer, cinematographer, and a FAA licensed drone pilot who grew up in Manhattan. An avid surfer and outdoorsman, Henry attended UC Santa Cruz where he discovered that he loved taking pictures of surfers even more than surfing. His respect for the environment and nature conservation has inspired him to photograph migrating whales in both the Pacific and the Atlantic with his drone. He also photographed surf breaks in Panama, Mozambique, and South Africa, the Big Five in the Serengeti, and Bison in the American West. He has worked as a deck hand on a sailboat in the Aegean Sea, and at a video production company in Cape Town, South Africa. Henry is currently based between Nantucket, Massachusetts and New York City where he specializes in drone, surf, and water photography. He enjoys surfing, skiing, free diving, fishing, sailing, and slack-lining.
